Mental Health - Breaking the CycleLove yourself canvas

We recognise that there are strong links between domestic violence and the erosion of mental health. Often, those women who have mental health problems are very vulnerable to domestic abuse, and domestic abuse can, in turn, contribute to mental health problems. Such women are also particularly vulnerable to homelessness.

Breaking the Cycle was set up to address these links, to provide enhanced one to one support aimed at addressing the problems that can arise when mental health problems seem to be part of the cycle of domestic violence. The support involves setting goals through action planning, developing coping strategies, liaising with mental health agencies, and addressing issues around self-esteem. We will work with women who are in hospital due to mental health problems where practical and safe, and we can provide support in Breaking the Cycle to women who have a dependency on alcohol and drugs.
