Staffordshire Women’s Aid, is a registered charity providing refuge accommodation, support and advice for women and children fleeing from Domestic Violence. Established in Stafford over 30 years ago we are expanding our services into the Staffordshire Moorlands area and are very excited to report we are opening a new refuge project which we aim to have up and running in the New Year.
The refuge comprises of 11 self contained flats. This will enable us to accommodate many families who have previously been unable to access refuge accommodation. Before we can offer our new refuge flats to these vulnerable women and children, each one requires the essential basic furniture to make it into a home. We are therefore appealing to any businesses and organisations who may be interested in sponsoring a flat or a room. The costings work out at £3500 for a 2 bed-roomed flat or approximately £700 per room. Obviously, those who sponsor in this way would be given full recognition of their support if appropriate. This help would be very much appreciated, not only by Staffordshire Women’s Aid, but much more importantly by those women and children who will be able to live in a safe place, a home free from fear.
