Like many other voluntary and statutory organisations Staffordshire Women’s Aid uses a number of policies and / or agreed procedures which relate to our principles and practices.
It is necessary for staff, student placements, volunteers and the Board of Trustee’s to understand and use these because:
• They are the agreed approaches to aspects of our work.
• They provide baselines for the best possible practices.
• They provide (in many cases) a legal framework for us to be guided by.
• They serve to protect the women and children we work with against abuse of power and poor practice.
• They serve to protect Staffordshire Women’s Aid, legally, financially and publicly.
• They provide staff volunteers and the Board of Trustee’s with guidelines and boundaries within their work.
• They service to protect staff, volunteers and the Board of Trustees in areas where they may be vulnerable.
